Marrakech Train Station
The old station, built during the French protectorate era, was located along Hasan II Avenue and was used as a rail hub. The station was within walking distance of the new city-center (French Quarter) district and Royal Theatre.
In 2008, a new station was built adjacent to the old one, and tracks were extended. The new station, 100 meters closer to the centre of the city, is more spacious and was built to facilitate the extension of the rail network towards Agadir and Laayoune. The area features a number of shops and fast-food restaurants, including a KFC restaurant. Furthermore, near the station, there is an Ibis Hotel. There are 16 daily direct trains to Fes via Casablanca Voyageurs station and another two direct connections to Tangier. |
